Richard Marranca

Richard Marranca is retired from full-time teaching but will continue to teach part-time in Classics and Religion at Montclair State University. He has had a Fulbright to teach at LMU Munich, as well as 6 NEH summer seminars. Some years ago, he was president of the NJ Chapter of Fulbright, and he is now glad to return to being a board member. He and his family enjoy travel, making videos, yoga and hiking. Richard has a book coming out soon called “Speaking of the Dead: The Egyptian Mummy and his Cousins” (Blydyn Square Books 2027). He’s also working on a time-travel novel. Richard writes for various digital publications, such as Englesberg Ideas, The Collector, Ancient Origins, Popular Archaeology Magazine, etc. — with recent articles on Homer, St. Francis, democracy, the Transcendentalists, American myth, women Egyptologists in the 19th century…. And he has recent stories in The Raven’s Perch Magazine and Coneflower Cafe – the last of which
nominated him for a Pushcart Prize. In June 2025, Richard was the keynote speaker at the community and sustainability conference at Sorsogon State University, Philippines.
